Our Summer Education: Bugs and Batman

My children are always coming up with creative and fun ideas.  This summer, they have been especially busy, working to share their knowledge on some important matters.  I mean, I didn't know that...

While wasps like to crawl on your fingers (click for photo), bugs prefer to crawl on your face.

Also, did you know that if you're given a healthy snack of strawberries and blueberries, it will taste much much better if (while Mom's not looking) you add almost an entire tub of cool whip?

And, I never realized that Batman only likes to go boating in water that is mixed with eggs and flour.

Finally, a lesson on gentleness, courtesy of my three-year-old.

"My butterfly died.  I just loved him so much."
"Sorry buddy.  What happened?  How did he die?"
"I squished him just like that!" Mase says as he pinches his thumb and forefinger together.

Grateful Mom Goal: Keep enjoying our educational summer.

Oh my! I can't believe she was calm and posed for the camera with a bug on her chin.

Well, I do agree that all desserts are better with lots and lots of whipped cream or cool whip!

All three of my kids would be on the highest level of hysteria if any kind of bug landed within spitting distance of them let alone on their face! Eeeks!

He squished his butterfly! Hahahaha!

Love the tub of whip topping with the fruit! :D

Gotta go with the kid on this one....fresh berries best served with cool whip! My toddler is currently enjoying stomping on ants. Then announces with great satisfaction "dead."

As a horror aficionado, I looked at that second image and wondered, "What film is that from?!" It took me a few moments after reading the caption to reorient myself to see it for what it was. :p

I look forward to the little bits of wisdom I'll glean from Li'l D as he gets older!

Never had Batman appear in any of my dishes but I have had a truck show up once. My toddler is very much into loving bugs which thus end up getting squished...I feel guilty every time he picks up a bug because I know the inevitable will occur!

My 4 year old Aisley found a huge ant the other day, she told me it was "fat because he ate so much food" right before squishing it to death. I told her that was a queen ant and she looked at me for a second before saying "Now a baby ant is going to be sad that I killed it's mom."

It is so funny the things kids do. I still love to read your blog because your stories always remind me of my own :)

I think also be grateful that Batman wasn't swimming in the whip cream and fruit.

While we were camping this weekend, my 4-year-old grandson was sure that we could use bug spray on every bug in the forest! I had four cans, but at that rate my sweetie still sent my daughter back to civilization to pick up another can.

Interesting description of the butterfly. Sounds similar to the final "chapter" of Kill Bill, Vol. 2.

Totally cracking up over the picture of Batman. We have a little Batman lover in our house too. He owns about 9,000 of them and they end up in some pretty strange places.

This was toooo funny! I don't know how she stood still while you took a picture of that bug on her chin! Brave girl. My daughter would have been rolling around on the ground in hysteria. :D

My baby girls are terrified of every creepy crawly. They freeze and start screaming "spider" whether it is a fly or beetle! Your daughter is so brave.

And the berries and Cool Whip look delicious.

That first picture is so cute!
Our batman just likes to lay on the floor in random locations so I can step on him. I'd almost prefer him to go boating in an egg mixture.
