Valuable Lessons in Motherhood

I'm acquiring vast amounts of knowledge lately. I think I could even write a book.  I'd call it:

What NOT to Do as a Mom

Do NOT spend too much time on the computer in the morning.
Your children will get creative.

Do NOT let your one-year-old eat sherbet with a pencil.
He will squawk when you take the stolen goods away.

Do NOT try this at home.
Thankfully, my kids are kitchen counter-jumping professionals.

Do NOT trust children in the kitchen.
OK, I spilled the pepper.  The second time this year!  But I'm certain the lid was tampered with by one of my minions.

Do NOT buy markers--ever!
My girls like to decorate.

Do NOT allow your daughter to bring a dangerous looking bug in the house!
Dangerous looking bug will likely escape.

And finally, do NOT let your toddler get his drinks from the dishwasher.
Or at least stop him immediately, before you take a picture.

Grumpy Grateful Mom Goal of the Day:  Hiding all markers.

And I'm linking up:

These were so funny! Ha! Love the pictures- all of them. The pepper, the drinking from the dishwasher, the markers- hilarious!

I would probably not let my kids do the counter jumping 'cause I'm chicken like that, but I REALLY want to try that myself. It looks like more fun than I've had in a while. Have you done it?

Somewhere my children just got serious pangs of jealousy and they are not sure why. It's because your counter is positioned just right for jumping. If my kids had this option they would be ALL over it!

Oh my goodness! I so wish I could come and share muffin and some laughs with you some time. Your kids would provide the entertainment! Hey, I like that toilet seat! That's high art! I thought it was an artsy fartsy watercolor design.

Thanks for the laughs today!

Oh my goodness, these are too much! :) Hilarious! :) Mia loves the dishwasher...putting her babies in it, taking the dishes out of it, and yes, even drinking the water in it! :)

Have a great weekend! :)

Your children have such talents. Dishwasher drinking is such an acquired taste. I hope JDaniel doesn't acquire it.

hahaha I don't think I could get my daughter to do half of those things even if I encouraged her to...she's quite the little priss.

I absolutely LOVE that I am not alone in my crazy life lol. I have starting taking pictures of the crazy things my kids do also. Dani is quite an amazing "counter jumper." Can't wait to see you tomorrow!!

I think this is the funniest thing I've seen this week! Thanks for the laugh!

You know my favorite part of your posts? That you can laugh at all this chaotic stuff in your life. I think that's so important for life.

And I agree on the marker thing. And the bug thing. But I'm not sold on the dishwasher thing yet. ;)

At September 16, 2011 at 12:39 PM , Blogger Valerie said...

My kids are also pros at the jumping on furniture (and off of counters) sport.
And my 10 yr old still can not be trusted with markers!!!

At September 16, 2011 at 12:56 PM , Blogger Mom of 12 said...

Every year I swear I'm not buying any more markers! This is the first year I actually did it. Mine don't drink from the dishwasher, but they love to climb up on it. In our old house, one of the kids did that and actually broke the door!

Pretty sure I do all those things, except for eating the sherbert with a pencil, except for the couch acrobatics, except for the markers (My poor couch already learned that lesson) oh and except for the bugs..ewwwm, LOL Ahhhh...the joys of motherhood.

What a fun blog post! Love it!

This is hilarious! I agree with no markers - I regret it every time. They write all over themselves, their clothes, the furniture, the walls...pretty much any surface they see. But I know I'll keep doing it. And my kids would love to jump from the counters like that - they constantly pile up blankets and pillows to lay in, play in, jump in, whatever.

btw, the toilet seat is pure art.

I would take that toilet seat over the one I found last week (stupid stomach flu).

The worst thing is when you are the one making the mess so you can't grumble a "this is why you should be more careful" lecture while you clean it up.

Woman, you most definitely could write a book... or ten, about all your adventures. So did you display the toilet seat somewhere nice in the house? You know, since it's art and all.
And I'm just wondering how TLC has not found you to offer you your own show. Your life would be good TV!

These cracked me up! Seriously, you must have your camera on you all the time to be able to capture these moments! Kids are more than creators and inventors and dare devils, they are invincible little brave warriors paving entirely new paths in life!
