Payback

When I was younger I used to tell my seemingly cruel parents, "I hate you!!! And I always will!"

Now I've been blessed with my own little hater.
I hate Mom
My husband just discovered this message on the back of my 7-year-old's bedroom door.  I am certain this was the result of another dramatic spelling homework battle, from earlier in the week.  Accordingly, I am appreciative she took the time to spell the words instead of say them.

Grateful Mom Goal of the Day: Dani will be scrubbing her message and the rest of the graphittied door until it is glistening white.

Well on the plus side it looks like she has great penmanship, and she spelled it correctly lol. Since Kaitlyn used to get quite aggressive.... I used to hear that a lot. I think I might have preferred the more secretive way of expression :)

I remember saying that to my parents. Payback is a pain in the butt.

I'm so glad I'm not alone being hated right now. I really think the end of the school year is tough. Each day the homework battles get a little more difficult. I think the kids are ready to be done.

My girls, on the other hand, are ready to LOSE their bedroom door. If I hear it slam one more time this week I'll be taking it off myself. I won't be waiting for my husband to help.

Good luck with your goal today. I love the idea of natural consequences.

oh my goodness. I have heard that all kids tell their parents they hate them. Once. I have NEVER said it once...within hearing distance that is. I knew I wouldn't live to tell that story.

Someone once said 'if they hate you, you're doing something right' ...just a thought.

My mouth just dropped! Hope she does a great job on the clean up!!
I have always been threatened with "payback" from my parents. I am not looking forward to my girls teenage years!!

One of my greatest fears in life is the day my daughter says this to me (which I know she will, it's pretty much payback right?) Hope you get that gleaning white door back soon!

I found some wall art the other day too but it was scribbles instead of a lovely message like you got. Try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Works wonders. Except it also removes pink paint that is supposed to be on the walls.

The first time my son said I Hate You, I said thank you, I must be doing my job right, and I really do belive it! I love my kids so much that I have no problem at all being hated! I wear it like a badge of honor. I do like that she wrote it, she used her mind, her language skills and spelling! Lol! Isn't motherhood a glamourus job!!

Oh no! :) I remember saying that too. My dad always answered, "But I love you." It wasn't much fun then!

“I hate you, and I always will!” Those words coming out of our beautiful daughter’s mouth were just too much. How could we possibly stay in control? We both folded — literally doubled over with fits of laughter! I don’t think Janae liked that, but what could she say? To this day, it still makes us giggle.

Doh! Bummer. It still hurts even when you know it's just a dramatic momentary feeling, doesn't it? But on the back of her DOOR!? That's just feisty. Good luck with the teen years! LOL

So I guess the cornmeal didn't help? Typing her words?

I have to agree with Leda, I've heard the same thing! My child is only 1 1/2 and she already gives me "the look" that I know she is very mad at me! Oh girls can be so Drama!

I have been struggling lately with, not so much my 7 year old drama girl, but my "sweet" 5 year old telling me I hate you MOMMY. I can't remember for the life of me if I ever though that of my parents , let alone tell them...sad at times...but at least now after reading this post I don't fee as guilty to know that my paybacks are just the right thing to do :)I LOVE your blog..so honest, so me and my happenings. Following and EXCITED!!

I have to admit. I used to write my own little messages. I wrote them under the top bunk so my parents would never see them. I was such a rebel! Once I scratched the word NO into the paint on the wall behind the bed. It's still there. My parents thankfully never discovered that one or I might not have lived through it!!! Someday I will repaint that wall for them . . . :(

My 8 year old did that this year too. She just gets so frustrated. It's on my blog here: http://andynadellransom.blogspot.com/2011/03/my-day.html
