Frozen Yogurt Extravaganza!

Where I live, these do-it-yourself yogurt shops are popping up--EVERYWHERE!  It's very exciting to me.  You get to fill your own yogurt cup and choose from about a hundred toppings!  The price is then based on the weight of your creation.  A brilliant idea!

I ventured to one of these brilliant ideas this past Saturday with my two girls, Dani (age 7) and Evie (age 5).  The man at the counter was especially helpful.   He explained,  " All of the yogurts are a hundred percent naturally sweetened and have zero additional sugars added, except for the Cake Batter and the Cookies and Creme."

My girls selected the Cake Batter.  I chose the Cookies and Creme.

Prior to embarking on our great topping adventure, I told Dani and Evie they could decide their own toppings, BUT, I strongly urged them to stick with mostly healthy choices, like fruit and nuts.

Dani was quite proud to show off her prime healthy selection---she had finished off her candy-filled yogurt cup with five maraschino cherries.  I suggested she add some strawberries, but she insisted she had enough fruit.

Then--there was Evie.  I should have been monitoring the situation more carefully, but I was too late!  She had already topped her yogurt with loads of candy, one cookie, and at least six gummy worms!

My girls were both basking in a sugar utopia.  Evie was last to finish eating.  Apparently, it takes a long time to chew up all of those worms.

"OK, I'm done." she finally states, with a smile.
.
Dani then glanced at her sister's yogurt cup.

"Hey!  She only left the yogurt!"

Yes.  I had just treated my five-year-old to a yogurt-free candy smorgasbord.

Are you in Mesa!? There are like 70 billion new yogurt shops around here. IF you are in Mesa you have to tell me because we need to go to one of those yogurt places together! I'd love to meet you!!

This sounds like me as a kid! I miss those yogurt places now being in Texas! I've got to do my research and see if they have some here.

HA! That is so funny! Sounds like MY kiddos. I wish we had one of those places around here. We don't even have a yogurt place anymore.

Man I wish someone would open one of those near me. That sounds like much fun. I would have to be really careful in there though.

See ... that's what I get -- I go to you for a laugh after a [cough] hormonally charged day, proud of myself for eating just 1 (Yes, that would be ONE) tootsie roll to stem the chocolate cravings that hit full force when I'm [cough] hormonally charged .... and there ya go -- showing me frozen yogurt (which my eyes/brain then connects to butter pecan ice cream!) and gummy worms (which my eyes/brain then connects to chocolate of some variety) ...

I'm dying here, my friend!

(And FYI, tootsie rolls AIN'T a good substitute for chocolate ... JUST in case you're wondering!)

Oh my, that sounds like a fun place to go! Although, I'd probably pile so much stuff onto my yogurt that the scale would break!

I have seen those yogurt shops all over my town but we haven't gone to them. I'm pretty sure my daughter would pick every type of candy they had in the store for her cup.

That is hilarious that Evie ate all the candy and none of the yogurt. You could have taken her to the gas station and bought a bag of M&M's and saved a bunch of money.

Oh man, that is so me. My favorite is cookie dough. I could just eat bowls and bowls of it and forget about the yogurt. I'm kinda thinking I may end up getting some cookie dough tonight.

Oh my goodness, too funny! I can never take the hubs for anything pay by weight... He would end up with a $15 yogurt, lol.

Same here. Two new yogurt shops have opened within a mile or so of our house in the last couple months. Pico Berry is one of them. Same set up, choose your size, choose the flavor and any toppings you can think of. They sell it based on the weight. I took Beanpole there a couple weeks ago, he had a hay day. He was flying for the rest of the day after eating pretty much a bowl full of sugar.
