The Leprechauns Were Watching

My kids can be so sweet, but, WOW, they can have some very not so sweet days.

At Christmas time I warned them, "the elves are watching" but it was an empty threat.  I wouldn't actually take away their Christmas presents.

Yesterday, the leprechauns were watching, and my kids really outdid themselves.  Mostly, they just weren't kind to each other:  Bop. Squawk. Whine. Cry.  "JUST...BE...NICE."

At my house, the leprechaun usually leaves a yummy treat for all wonderful children.  With high hopes, my crew still managed to momentarily work together.  They made a trap to catch the leprechaun and his tasty treasure.

I told them I was doubtful any leprechaun would come if they weren't getting along.  Well, I was wrong.  In the end, the leprechaun couldn't help himself and decided to stop by.

Unfortunately for my misbehaving children, Larry the Leprechaun escaped and ate all of his sugar-filled treasure on the way out, leaving only candy wrappers and a few cookie bits behind.  He also left a note telling my group to be nice to each other.

After reading the note, my kids still decided to stay true to the theme of the day.  They started arguing over who got the biggest small bit of cookie.

Grateful Mom Goal of the Day:Today I'm giving loads of praise for any good behavior.

I am a new follower and was inspired by your goal of the day. I would love to "steal" the idea with permission of course! We didn't do much for St. Patrick's Day, but the leprechaun trap is a cute idea!

HA! HA!! Thats the best!! Good for you!! We actually had one of those bickering days here today. It's the first day of spring break for the girls & they just couldn't get along for 10 mins!! AAHHHH! Maybe I use "the bunny is watching" & see if it helps :)

LOL. That's funny. The other day I posted this on FB. Logan--"Mom, Jaycee called me poopy-head". Jaycee--"No I didn't, I called you Fat-face!". Kids!!! I just figured this is my payback for all of the arguing that my sister and I did when we were little. I suppose I deserve it!

LOL! That's awesome though! What I wouldn't give for some good behavior and a little obedience on the side.

So interesting how much fuss St. Patty's day gets now. When I was a kid: nothing. Now my son came home saying the Leprechaun left candy in their shoes (I know right, not a very hygienic Leprauchaun as far as I'm concerned) but my kid was thrilled. Now guess what fricken tradition I have to uphold every March 17th!

Good for you! We have the elves come for 12 nights before Christmas and leave a SMALL treat in their stocking if they are good and their rooms are clean. So we can follow through on the Christmas threat, too!
